This is the story of my adventure that led to a swollen violet left foot, a skinned knee and my almost missing the acquaintance party.
August 17, 2007
It was the day before the acquaintance party and the council was finally confident that we had ironed out all the little details needed for the next day's affair. The payments were all taken care of, the batch presentation was already taking shape, the money accounted for, and it looked as though everything was in order.
All that was left to do was to prepare for the mass. . .
So after helping buy materials for our banner and practicing for the batch presentation for a while, I went to FD's house to take care of the final thing bugging my mind. . . my responsorial psalm.
*Thank you by the way to FD for the beautiful psalm and for bringing his organ to Vistamar no matter unsa na ka hassle ^_^
I was confident about going home late that night since I had nothing to study for the following day, and because achi was eating dinner with her friends in Ayala where all my jeepney companions would be getting off. I could easily go home with achi and Ian no matter how late I would get to Ayala. But just as we were about to head home, achi texted saying that they had instead agreed to meet up at IT park for dinner and asked if I was fine going home alone. I said I was, and went home. This was already around 9:15 in the evening.
I reached our street safely, but the jeepney dropped me off very far from my house that I had to walk past several other houses. The streets were already empty and it was very very dark save for one streetlamp down the street.
My Adventure Begins!
As I was nearing our house, I saw two guys across the street from me who were pointing. I acted as if I didn't notice and continued walking. But then they crossed the street toward me and started walking in my direction. . . so I tried walking a little faster! (At this point, nag buto2x na tawn ako HEART! :D )
I started walking very fast, and guess what?! So did they! WAH!
I broke into a run and they started running too! I was finally very near the gate when I tripped and fell face-down the pavement, hence, my physical injuries. I was hurting badly but struggled to get up and continue limping towards the gate where I knocked long and loudly on the knocker. To my relief, the two men ran away as I continued knocking louder. By the time my brother finally opened the gate, the pain was already so unbearable that I could no longer stand. And for the first time in my entire life. . . I passed out! wahaha! ana diay na ang feeling... your vision starts to dim and everything goes black no matter how hard you try to keep your eyes open. I woke up and I was already in the house.

My left ankle had an apple-sized bulge. (Though I cannot quite capture its grotesque size with my phone's cam)
. . . and it turned an unflattering shade of violet the next day.And green the day after :D

and yes, there's my right knee. sigh :(
But I wanted so badly to go to the party, we had all worked hard for it and I did not want to miss the chance to see the product of all our weeks of stress. So I did go... although I had to go with a bandaged foot and my bruised knee showed through my beach shorts. HAHAHA.
But at least I DID get to go to our wonderful acquaintance party! And yes, it was heartwarming when many of my friends offered to give me a ride to and from the party. :)
And no, Sir Yap, I was not limping because I have gout! =p
So back to my first thought in this blog. . .
1. I knew I should have prayed and called on divine intervention during the time I was running away from the 2 guys. I don't know why I did not. I guess I was too busy thinking what would happen if ever they did catch up with me.
2. I should have started shouting at the top of my lungs. I did not also, because at that time, I could not even whisper.
Lesson learned: Don't go home alone at night. :(
To Achi: Hmm..Nag bring home lagi kag pizza? GUILTY?hehehe =p
