New Year, New Resolutions

I'm two months late, but here I am making the mandatory new year post. In the previous posts, I never write about the things that I want to accomplish for the year, because I am admittedly ashamed to go back to this post at the end of the year and realize that I have not accomplished the things I said I would.

However, I came across this phrase from Michael Leboeuf that said:

“When you write down your ideas you automatically focus your full attention on them. Few if any of us can write one thought and think another at the same time. Thus a pencil and paper make excellent concentration tools.”
Michael Leboeuf

And I realized that it was more important for me to achieve even half the things I wish I would, than let my pride and ego suffer over the half that didn't get done :)

I'll go out on a limb here and type away the things that come to mind as I go along, never mind that they may be too drastic or too ambitious to be published, or too trivial to even be included in this list :)

For all it's worth, here are the ten things that I want for this year 2014:

1. Have a deeper relationship with God and do worthwhile things that help me become a better person
I've been feeling bad this past year. Because of my hectic and very tiring schedule, there are days when I go home and collapse on my bed. In moments like these, I feel like the days blur by in a monotony of waking up- to go to work-  to go to bed- to get some sleep- to wake up and -go to work (if you know what I mean). In the middle of this, you sort of take a quick pause and realize you have become so wound up with work that it's all you're really doing.

I want nurture my growth spiritually, and to mature in mind and soul.

2. Change of career
I've been saying this for the longest time, but have never yet set full conviction to proactively look for one. As much as I love my current career, I just feel that it's high time for me to try and go for other ventures.

3. Increase my savings by Php 80,000.00 by  the end of the year
To set aside a little per payday to reach a minimum of Php 80,000.00 nett by the end of the year.
I never really count how much I save up, but this would be a good start as an amount minimum to set aside for the rainy days.

4. Sleep in my own room
Night light is allowed :-p

5. Fall in love and be loved back
To wear my heart on my sleeve and be more open to this possibility. No more shunning and no more avoiding <3 p="">

6. Sing more...play more, finally do another recording
I just realized how much I miss singing. So be it karaoke, a Capella, lip syncing or with the radio, I vow to sing more this year. To get the broken guitar fixed, and get the off key piano in the living room tuned. To finally have the 4th installment in our recording done.

7. 5 new books and 5 new movies for the year 2014

8. Reconnect with old friends

9. End my current contract with my phone service provider
The internet is too weak and it takes too long for them to update on the payments made that I sometimes end up getting a Php 24,000++ bill for a single month.

10. More travels
At this year's countdown party, the theme of the affair was "Liftoff!". My first ever task for the year was to help paint a plane we rented for the event. It's not a secret that I love to travel and spend a big chunk of the money I earn on this.  I hope this means that 2014 is another year of travels for me :)
